Manveen Puri is a Specialist Medical Officer with the Canadian Armed Forces, where he holds the rank of Major. He is certified in Internal Medicine (FRCPC) and Emergency Medicine (CCFP-EM), and is completing a Royal College Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Toronto.

Manveen graduated from New College at the University of Toronto (HBSc, 2009), before completing medical school (MD, 2013) and residency in Family Medicine (CCFP, 2015). During medical school, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces following a serendipitous meeting with the Surgeon General. He began his career as a General Duty Medical Officer in the Royal Canadian Medical Service, later qualifying as both a Flight Surgeon and a Dive Medical Officer. His service has included domestic operations and international deployments, most notably to Kuwait on Operation IMPACT in 2019.

Alongside his early military practice in occupational medicine, Manveen worked as a rural Emergency Physician from 2015–2021 in underserved communities across Ontario. In 2020, he obtained certification in Emergency Medicine from the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

Selected by the military for specialist postgraduate training, Manveen returned to the University of Toronto in 2021 to pursue Internal Medicine, followed by subspecialty training in Critical Care Medicine. He is also pursuing a Master of Science in Epidemiology at Harvard University.

As a Specialist Medical Officer, Manveen’s clinical practice focuses on the care of critically ill patients—both in civilian intensive care units across Toronto and in military field hospitals on operational deployments. He has a special interest in trauma and transport medicine. His research centers on the application of machine learning to large healthcare datasets, with the goal of advancing emergency preparedness in both civilian and military settings.

Beyond his clinical and research roles, Manveen is active in innovation and entrepreneurship. He sits on the boards of two companies he co-founded, MDconsultants and Medvisory. Over the years, he has also held numerous leadership positions. At the University of Toronto, he served on Governing Council (2011–2012) and as Chief Resident in Family Medicine (2014–2015). For his contributions, he was recognized with both the Cressy Award and the Arbor Award. In 2019, he was promoted to Major and appointed Deputy Base Surgeon of 32 Canadian Forces Health Services
Centre in Toronto.

Manveen lives in Toronto’s west end with his wife and three children. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his extended family and close friends.
