Ryan Campbell started his career as a high school biology and chemistry teacher after obtaining Bachelor of Science Honours (BScH 2005) and Bachelor of Education (B.Ed 2006) degrees at Queen’s University. Concurrently, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves as an infantry officer. Upon acceptance to medical school, he decided to pursue a full-time career in the military and enrolled in the military medical training program. On graduation from medical school (MD 2012) from the University of Ottawa and Family Medicine Residency (CCFP 2014) from the University of Toronto, he was posted to CFB Petawawa where his medical practice was comprised of primary care, occupational, operational, and acute care medicine within a military context. In addition, Ryan has additional training in flight and dive medicine and is a Flight Surgeon and Advanced Dive Medical Officer. After postings to Trenton and Borden, Ryan is currently stationed in Toronto, where he holds the rank of Major and is the Base Chief Medical Officer (Base Surgeon).
In addition to his work in the military, Ryan also maintains a part-time practice as an investigative coroner in the province of Ontario.
In his spare time, Ryan is an avid runner and has competed in numerous races from marathons to shorter distances. Above all else, Ryan most enjoys spending time with his spouse and two-year-old daughter.
